25 Years of GlobalSign - All Eyes on Josiane

This year we’re celebrating GlobalSign’s 25th anniversary since its founding in 1996. Each month in 2021, we’ll be introducing you to a member of the GlobalSign team – representing countries from all over the globe, departments from Product Management to Compliance to Customer Support, and with years of service from one to 25…these are the people working hard behind the scenes to bring industry-leading PKI and identity solutions to the world.

This month we are featuring the impressive journey of Josiane Martins.

GS: What is your role here at GlobalSign?

Josi: I started as a vetting agent, and then Business Development for Brazil, and today I am an Enterprise Account Manager for the Canada territory.

GS: How long have you worked for GlobalSign?

Josi: Just over 6 years.

GS: Where do you call home?

Josi: Brazil, I was born and raised in Brazil and moved to US 12 years ago. Today I live in the beautiful state of New Hampshire.

GS: What is the best part of your job?

Josi:  Working with people from different countries and learning a little about their culture. I love the fact that this job is not static, we are always learning something new because the industry is always changing.

GS: How would you describe the GlobalSign culture in one word?

Josi: Diversified.

GS: What makes GlobalSign unique?

Josi: The different nationalities of our colleagues. We all come from different backgrounds and have different experiences in life and professionally.

GS: Is there a year that stands out in your mind from your tenure at GlobalSign?

Josi: Personally, the last few years have been amazing and challenging for me in so many ways. I had a child, started in a new position in different territory, and then the pandemic hit us! Definitely a crazy journey, but I'm glad I made it and had all the support of my team and colleagues.

GS: Can you share one of your most memorable moments from that year?

Josi: When we started hearing about COVID, we had no idea how big an impact it would have on our lives. I remember when HR told us we had to close the office, my colleagues and I thought we would be back in the office in 2 weeks. So little did we know.

GS: What would you consider your biggest work accomplishment so far?

Josi: Managing a new territory where I don't speak my native language, which is Portuguese.

GS: There have been plenty of changes in the CA and identity services industry over the course of the last two-and-a-half decades. What’s one of the most significant changes you’ve witnessed during your time with the company?

Josi: All the changes to vetting procedures that our industry goes through so often, but I think the biggest impact was reducing the validity of SSL certificates to 2 years and now to 1 year.

GS: What security tip have you learned since working at GlobalSign that you didn’t know before you started?

Josi: Check the padlock security on the browser when navigating a website, check for phishing emails, and [always use] multi-authentication factor.

GS: What’s something you’re working on right now that you can’t wait to share with others?

Josi: We have great things on the way, which will make our customer's life much easier, helping them to automate the process of issuing and deploying their certificates with many great integrations! Stay tuned!

GS: What makes you most excited about the future of tech/security?

Josi: All the tools we already have available that can make our lives safer, easier and won't break your bank!

GS: What does GlobalSign’s 25th anniversary mean to you?

Josi: We are growing steadily and safely. We are one of the first Certificate Authorities and we are still going strong, it just shows that GlobalSign knows what they are doing!

Congrats, Josi, on your accomplishments over the last 6 years and thanks for being a beacon of positivity through it all (even Covid).
