Secure unlimited subdomains on a single IP address
A standard SSL Certificate is issued to a single Fully Qualified Domain Name (e.g., www.yourdomain.com) only, which means it can only be used to secure the exact domain to which it has been issued.
A Wildcard SSL Certificate is issued to *.yourdomain.com, allowing the certificate to be used on an unlimited number of subdomains and across an unlimited number of servers. The one-time cost of the certificate covers you for additional subdomains or servers you may add in the future.

How Does a Wildcard SSL Certificate Work?
It's simple - we issue a Certificate with a "Common Name" of *.yourdomain.com and a Subject Alternative Name (SAN) of yourdomain.com. The * (wildcard) allows the Certificate to be used on any subdomain belonging to the yourdomain.com domain name and the SAN ensures SSL works even without a subdomain.
