GlobalSign Presentation at FinTech Connect 2018 to Focus on Securing Open Banking and Meeting PSD2 Requirements with Digital and Qualified Certificates

30 October 2018

London – October 30, 2018 - GlobalSign, a leading provider of identity and security solutions, today announced the company will be showcasing its cloud-based Managed Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) security solutions and its newly recognized Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) capabilities at Fintech Connect, December 5-6, 2018 in London (stand # D17) at ExCeL, London. GlobalSign’s Jose Sue Smith and Andreas Brix will present a session on how digital and qualified certificates can help secure open banking partnerships and meet the key regulations facing payment service providers, including the Revised Payment Service Directive (PSD2) and eIDAS.

PSD2 is a European Union (EU) directive designed to regulate payment services and payment service providers throughout the EU and European Economic Area (EEA). It is also meant to ensure transparency and fair competition within the payment industry. PSD2 is associated with the European law, eIDAS, an EU regulation focused on enhancing trust in electronic transactions between citizens, businesses and public authorities cross-borders. Now that GlobalSign is a recognized QTSP under eIDAS, the company will be able to offer its qualified certificates for electronic seals to payment service providers for the purpose of identification and securing communications, as specified by PSD2.. These qualified electronic seals uniquely identify the payment service provider and protect data or documents they send, ensuring their integrity and authenticity.

The session with Smith and Brix will highlight the fact that open banking requires financial institutions to share their customer’s personal and payment account information with third-party service providers and what measures should be taken to secure these transactions. In addition, they will also explain how both parties will be working together to give customers a better experience when conducting transactions online, but both parties should also be concerned with ensuring that customer data is always protected.

During GlobalSign’s presentation, attendees will learn:

  • What digital certificates are and their various business applications;
  • Key regulations and frameworks, including, eIDAS and PSD2, that govern how financial institutions and technology companies can securely communicate with each other and manage user data;
  • How digital certificates can be used, and in some cases must be used, to meet aspects of these requirements; and
  • Why GlobalSign has become an accredited Trust Service Provider and what that means for Open Banking security.

Presentation details:

  • Title: How to Secure Open Banking with Digital Certificates
  • Presenters: Jose Sue Smith, Senior Sales Engineer and Andreas Brix, Program Manager
  • Location: ExCeL, London; Fintech Connect Workshop Conference Zone
  • Date and time: Wednesday, December 5, 2:00 pm GMT
