Fast, Easy and Proven Integration with Microsoft Azure IoT Hub Ecosystem
GlobalSign partners with Microsoft to offer x.509 certificate integration support for IoT device authentication in two Microsoft Azure products:
- Azure IoT Hub, a managed and hosted cloud service with scalable, bi-directional communications between your IoT application and the devices it manages
- Azure Device Provisioning Service, a scalable helper service that enables zero-touch, just-in-time provisioning to the right IoT hub without requiring human intervention
- Azure IoT Edge, a fully managed service to run on IoT devices via standard containers
Valid x.509 certificate identity credentials are recommended to connect devices to the Azure IoT Hub and Device Provisioning Service. GlobalSign’s IoT Identity Platform and IoT Edge Enroll device enrollment software provide Device Authentication credentials with device identity provisioning and identity lifecycle management for devices/endpoints.
GlobalSign’s platform enables each device or endpoint to enroll and receive a unique device identifier via an X.509 digital certificate to create a strong device identity that can be used for authentication by Azure IoT Hub and Device Provisioning Service. Because GlobalSign’s IoT Identity Platform and IoT Edge Enroll are highly scalable, capable of issuing over 3,000 certificates per second and millions per day, it is ideally suited to the high-volume Azure IoT Hub ecosystem.
Many IoT customers are electing to connect to Azure IoT Hub as their IoT cloud of choice. GlobalSign created an Azure IoT Hub/GlobalSign integration proof of concept, engineered the solution, and shares the process and code samples with customers to facilitate their own integration in our GlobalSign/Azure IoT Hub Integration Solution Guide.
The solution guide is available as a pdf download for anyone wishing to learn more about how GlobalSign and Azure IoT integrate to provide a secure, scalable IoT cloud connection. It’s a valuable resource that eliminates integration obstacles, shortens integration time, and reduces time-to-market.
