GlobalSign and the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) Presenting Internet of Things (IoT) Security Webinar

Live webinar on November 4 will highlight the OTA’s draft Internet of Things Trust Framework and security best practices based on GlobalSign’s identity and security solutions

BOSTON, MA – October 27, 2015 – GMO GlobalSign (, a leading provider of identity and security solutions for the Internet of Everything (IoE), and the Online Trust Alliance (OTA), a non-profit with the mission to enhance online trust, will host a live webinar, “Capturing the New Value Propositions of Privacy, Trust, and Security in IoT,” on Wednesday, November 4 at 11:00 AM EST.

Recognizing a need for privacy and security best practices for the growing number of consumer IoT devices, the OTA established the IoT Working Group in January which recently released a draft Internet of Things Trust Framework. During this webinar and ahead of the formal release on November 18, the OTA will discuss these guidelines for IoT manufacturers, developers and retailers to follow when designing, creating, adapting and marketing connected devices in two key categories: home automation and consumer health and fitness wearables.

“While the market for consumer IoT products continues to grow, the privacy and security concerns need to be addressed as these devices become part of our connected lifestyle and workplace” said Craig Spiezle, Executive Director and President of OTA. “The recent release of the draft Internet of Things Trust Framework helps provides the IoT community guidelines to implement a security and privacy strategy to help protect consumers throughout the lifecycle of these connected devices.”

GlobalSign offers decades of experience as an identity services provider—delivering proven public key infrastructure (PKI) and identity and access management (IAM) solutions—and is uniquely positioned to help build identity management and security into the IoT ecosystem. As an OTA member, GlobalSign will discuss how to begin implementing practical IoT security methods and best practices today to ensure security and privacy risks are mitigated.

“Consumers are demanding that manufacturers add the proper levels of security into their devices so that communication between devices and related services is secure and personal data cannot be compromised,” said Lancen LaChance, Vice President of Product Management, IoT Solutions for GlobalSign. “Consumer IoT device manufacturers who implement security best practices can gain a significant competitive market advantage. In conjunction with the OTA’s framework, we’ll discuss how manufactures can get started now.”
