Privacy community helps define, support and improve the privacy profession globally

GlobalSign Joins International Association of Privacy Professionals

Membership emphasizes commitment to improving security and ensuring data privacy

GMO GlobalSign (www.globalsign.com), a leading provider of identity and security solutions for the Internet of Everything (IoE), is now a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), a comprehensive global information privacy community and resource.

The exponential growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) introduces a whole new level of risk in regards to privacy and security in a hyper-connected world. IoT products are on the development fast track and oftentimes security is an afterthought. But the tide is changing; IoT device manufacturers are implementing security by design and consumers are more informed about the importance of data privacy. There is also a lot of work being done by organizations like the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) and Industrial Internet Consortium to address the lack of standards and controls for IoT security and privacy.

As a trusted identity and access management (IAM) and public key infrastructure (PKI) solutions provider, GlobalSign is enabling privacy and security to be built into the IoT ecosystem from the beginning. PKI provides key information security capabilities, including authentication, encryption, and data integrity with GlobalSign’s high-volume distribution services and agile certificate profiles.

“High-profile data breaches and sensational device hacking news stories are forcing consumers to take a closer look at what measures manufacturers are taking to ensure security and privacy of their identities and personal data. In fact, security is becoming a competitive advantage for IoT device manufacturers,” said Christian Simko, Vice President of Marketing, GlobalSign. “We look forward to working with IAPP to enhance privacy for our customers.”
