GlobalSign Acquires Ubisecure

GlobalSign Acquires Ubisecure

This morning we officially announced our acquisition of Ubisecure, a Helsinki-based identity and access management (IAM) software developer.  We are really excited to have this talented team of IAM experts join us, and we welcome the employees, customers and partners of Ubisecure to GlobalSign!

Ubisecure provides the essential technology and talent needed to execute on our strategy to become the end-to-end identity services leader for the Internet of Everything (IoE). Combining their IAM technology and our identity and authentication services and experience, we will be able to mediate trust to enable safe commerce, communications, content delivery and community interactions for billions of transactions, around the world, in every moment.

It’s no secret that the IoE is huge and expected to grow to include 50 billion “things” by 2020.[1]   The ability to make secure networked connections among people, processes, data and things will require that every “thing” have a trusted identity. We’ve been verifying and authenticating identities for websites, organizations and devices for years, and believe that the synergy between our CA services and Ubisecure’s IAM services will create a platform that will deliver exceptional capabilities and massive scalability.

Why Ubisecure?

Ubisecure is a product leader in Access Management and Federation, whose access control, single sign-on (SSO), and federation and delegation services are used by an impressive number of government agencies, financial institutions, and enterprises in Europe. This quote from Martin Kuppinger, founder of information security analyst firm KuppingerCole, sums it up nicely, “The Ubisecure product is highly attractive for service providers and governments due to its specific features for use cases that require a strong focus on the integration of customers or citizens at large scale. Providing massive scalability is a must to extend IAM to the IoT, where every ‘thing’ has its own identity.”

Commitment to our customers:

For our customers, at GlobalSign and Ubisecure, don’t worry -- we are still completely committed to meeting the needs of our existing businesses.  Next year, you will begin to see some of the benefits of our combined product portfolio.  With Ubisecure technology onboard, we’ll be rolling out easier ways to provision certificates, more robust integrations, advanced federation and delegation capabilities, and other new functionality – all designed to make it much easier for you to implement and manage strong authentication in your enterprise -- or to embed identities into your products.

These are certainly exciting times for the identity industry and our customers. Keep an eye on this blog for more developments and announcements about our exciting products at GlobalSign!
