PersonalSign: Sign and Encrypt Email with Lotus Notes 8.5

To enable the certificate in Lotus Notes:

  1. Select File > Security > User Security
  2. UserSecurity

  3. On the left hand panel expand “Your Identity” and select “Your Certificates”.
  4. UserSecurity

  5. On the right hand side, select Get Certificates > Import Internet Certificates…
  6. UserSecurity

  7. Navigate to your PKCS#12 File which you either downloaded or exported from your browser (export instructions available from);
  8. Select and Open your PKCS#12 file;
  9. UserSecurity

  10. Select PKCS 12 encoded and Continue;
  11. UserSecurity

  12. Enter the password entered during export;
  13. UserSecurity

  14. Click Accept All;
  15. UserSecurity

  16. Select the "OK" button andthe certificate should now appear in “Your Internet Certificate” drop down menu;
  17. UserSecurity

To use the digital ID as you send and receive e-mail from Notes:

  1. Browse to File > New > Message
  2. UserSecurity

  3. Select Delivery Options… and choose to Sign/Encrypt or both;
  4. UserSecurity

    Remember, when encrypting an email the person receiving the email will need your public key!
