Managed SSL v2 New Features

In August 2011 we begin the transition of MSSL v1 customers to the new v2 platform.

MSSL Tab

MSSL Tab

When you log in, you will see a new MSSL tab. Click the tab for all MSSL related functions.

IMPORTANT: "Staff" application/approval Privileges

There is a change in privilege management that means that any user classified as "Staff" may need to have their approval rights updated by the Administrator. This is only necessary if the Staff member should have ordering, approval or revocation rights, and when they log into MSSL they see the below message:

Staff rights in Managed SSL

Administrators, log into your MSSL account and in the left hand menu click Manage Profiles & Domains. Then for each Domain, click Set User Permissions and choose which users can order, approve or revoke on a per domain basis.

Here are the major highlights for the new platform. If you have any questions please contact your Account Manager or Customer Support:

MSSL Homepage

Make sure you are in the MSSL area by clicking the MSSL tab. The MSSL homepage contains all the core functions needed to manage your account. You can manage your pre-vetted domains & organizational profiles, order Certificates, renew expiring Certificates and gain easy access to the more in depth functions available.

Managing your Domains & Profiles

MSSL simplifies how you manage your domains and profiles. In the left you will see 4 functions:

MSSL functions

Home - Order Certificates: the default MSSL page. Clicking Home takes you back to the homepage where you can view your pre-vetted domains and profiles, and order /renew Certificates using your vetted organizational information.

Report - My Certificates: the new home to see all your existing Certificates. This link takes you to the new reporting facility where you can run downloadable reports on outstanding orders, completed orders and renewals. You can also run audit reports on user activities.

Edit Certificate

Once you run a report all Certificates will be listed, along with the actions available for each order. For issued Certificates you can Reissue, Revoke or get the Certificate File. Click Edit to view all order/Certificate details and access additional functions such as Add/Remove Subject Alternative Names (SANs).

Pending Approvals - if orders have been placed by users without approval rights, or if orders have been placed by API or the Public Ordering Page, they will appear in the Pending Approvals section until someone with approval rights authorizes the issuance.

Manage Domains & Profiles - takes you to the new facility to add/remove pre-vetted domains, the associated profiles and the rights of users associated with each domains. This is now where you will also find the Public Ordering Page configuration.

MSSL Manage Domains

MSSL v2 accounts can add multiple domains for each pre-vetted profile. Your profile is your organizational identity, or departmental identity. To have multiple profiles per MSSL account, you can upgrade to MSSL Pro. Each profile is vetted to either OV (organization validation) or EV (extended validation). You can set user permissions per domains, such as who can order, approve and revoke.

Public Ordering Pages

The Public Ordering Page setup has been moved to the Manage Domains & Profiles area. If you use the Public Ordering Page you will need to recreate your original setup options as new functionality has been added. Click the Activate Public Ordering Page link, complete the configuration steps and copy the new Public Ordering Page URL. Note that any existing Custom Fields will be transferred over to the new Public Ordering Page setup, but you must use the new URL displayed in this area to use them.

Original MSSL Functions

Original functions, such as creating Users, managing balances and using GlobalSign SSL tools remain and can be accessed through the familiar methods.
