All SSL Certificates are basically made up of 4 components, a private key, a CSR, a public key, and a certificate. The Private Key is generated at the same time as your CSR, and the public key at the same time as your certificate.
The public key supplied with your certificate can ONLY link with the private key generated at the time of the corresponding CSR.
Therefore, if you cannot find the Private Key, you will HAVE TO delete your previous CSR file and the associated Private Key, and then generate a new one, using this NEW CSR to apply for a NEW certificate.
When you receive the new certificate we would advise you keymake a backup of the certificate with its private key and save the pfx/PKCS12 file in a secure location. Click here for instructions per web server
