Apple Mac Users

PersonalSign Certificate using Mac OS X

When placing an order on a MAC we recommend you use Firefox to place the order to install the certificate. We will be using an ObjectSign certificate for this example.

Before you start the order you must create and setup the MASTER PASSWORD within Firefox. If this security measure is not created first you will not be able to complete the order and install your certificate.

Creat Master Password

To create this, go to “Firefox” then “Preferences…” Select “Security” to see the password section and to create the master password. When this is created you can then start the ordering process.

After you have installed your certificate go to “Firefox” then “Preferences…” and select “Advanced”.

Click on the “encryption” tab and then select the “View Certificates” button to show the Firefox Certificate store.

View Certificates

You will now see the certificate in the Firefox store. Click on the certificate and then click on the “BackUp” button. This will open a window to create the filename. We recommend you store this on your Desktop and name it “GlobalSign_cert”.

saving your certificate

When you click save, you will be asked for the Master Password. When you have entered this, you can then assign a password to your certificate file. Do not forget this, since you will need it later. You may also need to enter the Apple Mac password assigned to the account.

Your certificate will now be successfully installed

Export/Import the Certificate in to your Certificate Store

After you have made a back-up of your certificate by exporting from Firefox you then need to open the “Utilities” folder on your Mac to load the program “Keychain Access”.

Keychain Access Import Items

When this is loaded, click on “File” and select “Import Items”.

Locate the certificate you exported from Firefox earlier and select this.

You will then need to enter the password you assigned to the certificate when you exported in from the Web Browser.

You might be asked to enter your Mac Account password to accept the import to your Key Store.

Enter your Password

If the system asks you to accept the “GlobalSign Root CA Certificate” please say yes to this otherwise the certificates will not be recognized. You will only need to do this the first time you install our certificates on the computer.

Once completed, you will see the certificate shown in your “My Certificates” folder.

You will then be able to use this certificate to sign code in your applications.

Your certificate has been successfully installed

The screenshot shows our ObjectSign Certificate and PersonalSign certificate installed successfully.
