What you should know before you order a Personal Digital ID

If you're a Vista user please click here
If you′re a Vista user and you use Firefox, follow these instructions to create a Master password or
click here for the illustrated version- Select Tools from the menu at the top of your Browser
- Select Options from the drop down list
- Select the Security tab so that it is highlighted
- Select the box next to 'Use a master password'; if done correctly a tick will appear in the box
- Enter a password of your choice
- Re-enter the password and make a note of it, you will be prompted to enter this password by your Firefox browser when you install the certificate

- Ensure that you complete the order and installation process on the same physical machine and that you have Admin Rights.
Why?
The private key is created and stored in your browser during your certificate request. If you choose to install the certificate you receive from us on a different computer the certificate will not be able to locate your private key - Ensure that you user account is password protected.
Why?
If you do not use a password to access your computer you may discover later that the option to export your certificate and private key is disabled
Placing Your Order
- Clicking Continue will take you to the ordering page. If you are using Internet Explorer look out for the yellow bar at the top of your screen, follow the instructions and ′run Active-X′.
- Enter your details as requested, print the form when requested to do so and be sure to hit submit.
- The request form printed at the end of the enrolment process MUST be signed and faxed to GlobalSign on one of the following numbers:

On receipt of this fax, GlobalSign will process your order by;
- Authenticating the person named in the request form How?
GlobalSign will contact the organization in order to ensure the subscriber details are correct, for example by phone through a trusted third party directory - Confirming that the organization is a valid legal entity and has the right to do business under this name
How?
GlobalSign uses information from Government bodies and trusted third parties to validate the details provided and we will require a response to an email that we will send to the email address that you provide - Taking payment and Issuing the Certificate
How?
Payment will not be taken before vetting is complete and the certificate is ready to be issued. Once issued the applicant will receive an email to the address specified in their CSR, which contains a link to install the certificate. - We aim to issue your certificate within 2 working days of receipt of your certificate request fax.
Application Checklist
You can help to avoid delays to your application by ensuring that you;
- Enter the organization name and address in your application exactly as it was registered - if your address is no longer correct you will be asked for further documentation
- Print, sign and fax the request form, without which we cannot process your request.
- Do not forget to hit the final ’submit’ button at the end on the online procedure - otherwise the request will not be recorded.
- Watch out for and reply to the email from ra@globalsign.net - you may need to check your spam filter or ’White-List’ ra@globalsign.net to ensure you receive it.
