GlobalSign Press Release

GlobalSign brings all Digital Certificate products into unified on-demand GCC 2.0 platform

With major new features and usability, leading Digital Certificate Management Saas platform supports SSL, Code Signing, Personal Digital IDs, and Adobe Certified Document Services.

Portsmouth, NH – 17 May, 2009 – GlobalSign Inc (www.globalsign.com), one of the longest established Certification Authorities (CA) and specialists in Digital Certificate security, today announced the launch of version 2.0 of GCC (GlobalSign Certificate Center), its on-demand Digital Certificate platform.  The extended capabilities of GCC now provide enterprises with a single Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform to manage the application, issuance and renewal for all GlobalSign Digital Certificate requirements – ranging from SSL to Code Signing and Personal Digital IDs to PDF Signing Digital Certificates for securing Adobe PDFs.

Originally released in late 2007, GCC has quickly emerged as the leading SasS Digital Certificate management platform available.  With the release of GCC 2.0, enterprises have complete control over securing their servers / web sites, applications, employee identities, email and documents.  The range of Digital Certificate products now available through GCC include:

  • SSL Certificates – allows organizations to secure networks and web sites.  GCC offers immediate Certificate issuance using a pre-vetted model, reselling abilities, plus the widest range of SSL Certificate options, including Extended Validation SSL, Wildcard SSL, Multi-Domain SSL, 3 for the price of 1 server licensing and strong SGC security.  45 day fully functional trial SSL Certificates are available free of charge.

  • Code Signing – allows software publishers to digitally sign applications and Microsoft Office macros.  Digitally signed “apps” or macros prove authenticity and authorship to wary users and remove worrying “untrusted application” messages presented by browsers and operating systems.  Supports all development platforms including Microsoft Authenticode, VBA, Adobe AIR, Java, Apple and Mozilla Objects.

  • PDF Signing for Adobe CDS – allows individual or departmental authors to digitally certify and add approval signatures to PDF documents to prove authenticity, authorship and time of creation.  No plug-in software is needed as recipients of the document only require the free Acrobat Reader (install base of 800m+) to verify the signatures, making it an ideal solution for publishers of all document types.  90 day trial PDF Signing Certificates are available free of charge.

  • PersonalSign Digital IDs – issued to individuals and departments, PersonalSign Digital IDs allow its holder to encrypt email, digitally sign email & Microsoft Office documents to prove authorship and authenticity, as well as authenticate themselves to online resources such as Government services.  30 day fully functional trial PersonalSign Digital IDs are available free of charge.

“The launch of GCC 2.0 opens the benefits of using Digital Certificates to secure all enterprise communications, applications and documents,” comments Lila Kee, Director of Product Management , GlobalSign, “by making all Certificate products available via a unified platform, enterprises can leverage the widespread public trust that GlobalSign solutions offer.”

GCC 2.0 is automatically available to the tens of thousands of GlobalSign customers.  As well as access to the additional security products, customers can expect to benefit from centralized purchasing and reporting functions, granular user management (essential for organizations with distributed departments) and simplified ordering and renewal processes.
