GlobalSign Sets New Industry Speed Barrier For Issuance Of SSL Certificate

Fully supported 256 bit domain validated SSL including advanced anti-phishing checks completed in less than five minutes

LONDON, UK – March 29 2007 – GlobalSign (www.globalsign.com), one of the longest established Certification Authorities (CA) and specialists in SSL security, today announced a new record in SSL delivery time.  A GlobalSign Domain SSL Certificate was ordered, vetted and issued in just four minutes.  Unlike other “fast issuance” domain validation SSL Certificates, GlobalSign does not compromise on security and identity checks and employs a series of advanced algorithms to ensure all auto-vetted certificates pass its stringent anti-phishing rules.  By breaking the four minute barrier, GlobalSign Domain SSL represents the fastest means for customers to obtain a fully supported SSL Certificate without compromising security checks.

GlobalSign’s Domain SSL Certificates are fully supported and share the same browser recognition as other GlobalSign SSL Certificates, but come with the advantage of being issued in under five minutes and without the need to submit company paperwork.  This makes Domain SSL ideal for businesses who need a low cost SSL quickly and without the effort of submitting company documents.

The “four minute SSL Certificate” was issued to Germany based Rheine Chemie Rheinau GmbH, Mannheim (a company of the LANXESS Group).  Peter Pollich,  System & Application Management, opted to apply for a GlobalSign Domain SSL Certificate because of his need to receive a fully trusted and supported SSL Certificate quickly.  “GlobalSign is a credible brand for web server security certificates and I knew the claim of five minute issuance could be taken seriously,” stated Pollich.  “When receiving the certificate quicker than advertised I was extremely impressed with the incredibly fast turnaround, alongside the unmatched levels of customer service.”

Domain Validated SSL Certificates were added to the product portfolio in by GlobalSign in February 2007.  The addition of this type of certificate was driven by GlobalSign’s belief that the SSL market had evolved into three certificate types defined by the vetting employed during the issuance process – domain validation, organization validation and extended validation.  GlobalSign seized this opportunity to realign its product portfolio and present a clear and simple SSL portfolio in what it states is currently an over-complex SSL industry.

Key features of a GlobalSign domain validated SSL Certificate:

bullet Activate the SSL padlock for secure transactions
bullet Issued in minutes
bullet 256 bit enabled
bullet Three server licenses included during promotional period – a unique approach to solving the server licensing issues presented by competing SSL Providers
bullet Trusted by all browsers & backed by $130,000 warranty
bullet GlobalSign clickable Site Seal
bullet Available as single certificate or in bulk through managed SSL portal to manage the lifecycle (application, issuance, renewal and revocation)

Domain Validated SSL Certificates are also available in convenient Wildcard format.  This allows a web master or enterprise to use a single certificate to secure multiple sites – an extremely cost effective and efficient alternative to using an individual SSL Certificate to secure each site belonging to the enterprise.

All GlobalSign SSL offerings are available through the www.globalsign.com web site and its worldwide reseller & partner network immediately.  Domain ServerSign certificates are currently available at the introductory promotional price of $189 / £99 / €149.
