GlobalSign Press ReleaseGlobalSign Introduces Clarity to an Otherwise Overly-Complex SSL Market with new SSL Portfolio
Global SSL Provider celebrates 10 years of issuing SSL by launching customer friendly SSL portfolio including fast issuance SSL and Extended Validation SSL
Portsmouth, NH & London, UK–09 February, 2007 – GlobalSign (www.globalsign.com), one of the longest established Certification Authorities and specialists in SSL security, today announced the availability of new SSL offerings, consisting of a simplified range of SSL Certificates to suit all budgets and requirements. The new ServerSign™ SSL Certificate range includes Domain ServerSign - a low cost certificate issued in only 5 minutes without the need for the applicant to provide paperwork, and Extended ServerSign which activates the “green bar” in IE7 and Windows Vista. GlobalSign’s original offering has been renamed Organization ServerSign and remains an ideal solution as a competitively priced trust enhancing SSL Certificate.
Each certificate type has a specific purpose designed to meet the individual needs of its retail, enterprise, ISP and hosting customer’s requirements.
GlobalSign is the first SSL Provider to offer a simplified range of SSL Certificates – fitting neatly into the three newly defined SSL classes of Domain Validation (DV), Extended Validation (EV) and Organization Validation (OV). By taking its 10 years of experience in delivering trusted SSL solutions, GlobalSign has pioneered a simple approach to the three classes of SSL the market has seen emerge over recent months.
Other SSL Providers favor using complex product naming and classifications, with basic features being used to differentiate otherwise identical products. In a bold move, GlobalSign bucks this trend by adopting simple product naming and assigning feature sets as options within each product class. This approach is designed to eliminate the time consuming and frustrating “which certificate do I need” issues faced by customers evaluating SSL vendor solutions.
The simplified classification of GlobalSign SSL consists of:
-
DV – Domain ServerSign – GlobalSign’s Domain ServerSign certificates are fully supported and share the same browser recognition with Organization ServerSign, but come with the advantage of being issued in only 5 minutes and without the need to submit company paperwork. This makes Domain ServerSign ideal for businesses who need a low cost SSL quickly and without the effort of submitting company documents. Domain ServerSign certificates are currently available at the introductory promotional price of $189.
-
EV – Extended ServerSign – The latest, and possibly most significant, advancement in SSL technology since its initial inception follows the standardized Extended Validation guidelines. New high security browsers such as IE7 on Windows XP and Windows Vista identify Extended ServerSign certificates as EV certificates and activate the browser interface security enhancements, such as the Green Bar in IE7. For customers who wish to assert the highest levels of authenticity, Extended ServerSign is the ideal solution. Extended ServerSign certificates retail at an introductory promotional price of $899.
-
OV – Organization ServerSign – GlobalSign has been issuing OV certificates for 10 years under the brand name of ServerSign, now renamed to Organization ServerSign. Companies applying for Organization ServerSign have their company details vetted before issuance. Organization ServerSign certificates are currently available at the promotional price of $229.
Both Domain ServerSign and Organization ServerSign are available in convenient Wildcard format. This allows a web master or enterprise to use a single certificate to secure multiple sites on a single certificate.
GlobalSign SSL Certificates are supported by all popular browsers, PDAs, video consoles and mobile phones and provide up to 256 bit strong encryption. Each certificate is issued with a free trust enhancing clickable Site Seal and warranties ranging from $130,000 to $300,000. Unlike other SSL Providers, GlobalSign is running a promotion that uniquely issues each certificate with 3 server licenses, allowing use of the certificate on a web server, a backup server and a third device, such as a load balancer without incurring additional licensing costs – an exclusive approach to SSL server licensing.
All GlobalSign SSL offerings are available through the www.globalsign.com web site and its worldwide reseller & partner network immediately.
