Enterprise PKI (ePKI) for Electronic Notarization and Legalization
Speed, efficiency, security and the need to drive towards low carbon footprint ecosystems - a necessity for e-Notarization and e-Legalization.Digital signature legislation across many countries provides the necessary baseline from which e-Notarization and e-Legalization services can be driven. Acts such as the UET (Uniform Electronic Transactions Act and Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act) are now being enacted into laws in various states. These laws provided the necessary legal framework for the recognition of electronic signatures. Many companies in business, law, and government have already adopted e-Notarization using CDS (Certified Document Service) across various states demonstrating that a e-Notarizationt is as trustworthy as the paper-based act and that they now have legal equivalency.

Maintained Electronic Document Integrity & Authenticity through Digital Signatures
Authenticity and Security. The identities of notaries within the CDS program are fully authenticated. The cryptographic key material used by the notary is secured by a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 hardware device. Both these requirements provide the high level of assurance necessary for a relying party to be able to authenticate the underlying transaction witnessed by the notary. Highly reliable revocation and timestamping capabilities of the CDS
Data integrity. Using a GlobalSign PDF Signing certificate in combination with a PAdES (ETSI TS 102 778) compliant signing tool such as Adobe® Acrobat® provides long term data integrity by embedding signature validation information and a secure timestamp details. Support for LTV (Long Term Validation) signatures is essential as notarial documents must be referenced and guaranteed as authentic many years after the initial act took place.
Efficiency. Enablement of a low carbon footprint e-Notarization capability (i.e. no requirement to move physical documents between relying parties) allows a far more efficient and effective service for all stakeholders leading to wider use and higher levels of inter-company and inter-country transactions allowing new business models to flourish.
